Today is the National Day of Giving, also known as #GivingTuesday. It’s a nice sentiment, and one we completely agree with it. After all, as the saying goes, it’s better to give than to receive. Which is why we want to make a suggestion. Chances are very good that if you’re reading this blog, you’re on a weight loss journey. And chances are that if you’re in the process of losing weight, you’re starting to feel pretty good. About yourself, about your program, about the world around you. Studies show that people who lose weight feel better about themselves and become more optimistic as a result. Who wouldn’t want to share that feeling? So here are three ways you can share your gift this #GivingTuesday.
1. Recruit a Friend. You’ve probably found that losing weight is much easier if you have a partner in the effort, a wing man to help you through the lows and celebrate the highs with you. Do you know someone else who’s expressed an interest in losing weight,or maybe just getting more active? Consider giving him or her a call or text and inviting them to go for a walk, then telling them about your success and how good you feel. No need to do a hard-sell, but if they’re interested, they’ll ask for more information. And look at you: You’re an expert!
2. Go on Social Media. This is kind of a big step, but consider describing some of your success on Facebook or Instagram. You have a great story to tell, and by sharing it today, you may well be providing someone the inspiration he or she needs to take the first step on they journey.
3. Don’t Stop. The best thing you can do is to continue to set a good example. For your family, your friends, your coworkers and for yourself. By continuing to show that you care about your health, you’re giving those you care about the greatest gift of all: the gift of health.
