Is Nutrisystem D heart healthy?

In general, losing weight can improve heart health. The Nutrisystem D plan is designed to help support heart health by offering a diet meal plan that is low in total, saturated and trans fats.

The 2020 – 2025 USDA Dietary Guidelines for Adults indicate that healthy eating patterns should limit sodium to the Chronic Disease Risk Reduction levels defined by the National Academies, which is no more than 2,300 mg/day for adults. The Nutrisystem plan is designed to deliver no more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day, aligning with the USDA recommendations, which is a 23% and 44% reduction in sodium intake compared to the typical American women and man, respectively.

The American Heart Association recommends limiting sodium to no more than 1,500 mg per day for adults with high blood pressure. If you would like to reach that level of sodium restriction, contact Nutrisystem Weight Loss Coaches at 1-800-585-5483 to help you customize your meal plan.
