Introducing the ALL NEW Nutrisystem Grocery Guide! Here’s Everything You Need to Know
Article posted in: NutrisystemWe’re thrilled to unveil the latest updates to the Nutrisystem Grocery Guide! With an expanded food list that’s our most comprehensive yet, this new guide provides more examples, more guidance and more nutrition. Here’s a detailed breakdown of these exciting changes.
More Examples and Guidance
Introducing our new Grocery Guide, carefully curated by our expert dietitians to offer a wide range of nutritious food options. With an extensive list of ideas and endless variety, this guide is designed to enhance your meal plan experience.
Discover a comprehensive selection of high-quality PowerFuels, SmartCarbs and Vegetables for your Nutrisystem plan, handpicked to maximize nutrient density. Each food item is accompanied by recommended portion sizes, as well as valuable shopping and cooking tips to help you optimize the nutritional quality of your meals.
Emphasis on Whole Food Choices
We encourage you to keep our Grocery Guide handy and to choose the majority of your grocery add-ins from this extensive list. If an item is on the list, there’s no need to worry about counting calories or other nutrients— we’ve taken care of that for you! Simply follow the serving size listed, and these wholesome food choices will effortlessly integrate into your Nutrisystem meal plan.
We recommend that most of your add-ins are these whole food choices. However, we do recognize there may be times when you will want to include other convenient, packaged food items in your Nutrisystem plan. This is where the nutrition definitions in the guide will be useful. When choosing packaged foods, you will use these definitions to select the serving size that aligns with the calorie count and other nutrients for that specific add-in category.
While the nutrition for all whole foods listed in the Grocery Guide will not align with the packaged food nutrition recommendations, they are included in the Nutrisystem meal plan as add-ins for their additional key nutrients. For example, even though most fresh fruits do not contain 3 grams or more of fiber, they are still recommended as SmartCarbs because of their high nutritional value.
New PowerFuel and SmartCarb Definitions
We have also made updates to the definitions for SmartCarbs and PowerFuels. This change ensures that the Nutrisystem plan is maximizing nutritional value when choosing packaged food items for grocery add-ins.
At Nutrisystem, we’re committed to offering programs that support your health and wellness journey. These updates to the Nutrisystem Grocery Guide reflect our dedication to not only promoting effective weight loss but also enhancing the nutritional quality of the Nutrisystem plan!
New PowerFuel Definition: 80-120 calories with at least 7 grams of protein OR at least 7 grams of total fat, with no more than ½ of the fat from saturated fat.
New SmartCarb Definition: 80-120 calories with at least 3 grams of fiber.
Again, keep in mind that if you choose foods listed in our Grocery Guide and stick to the recommended serving sizes, there’s no need to stress about calculating calories or macros. We’ve done the work for you!
