How to Make a Healthier Lemonade

Lemonade is a classic summertime refreshment often enjoyed on idyllic front porches and during backyard barbecues. While the fruit-infused drink may be healthy at its core, if you opt for the store-bought brands, you’ll notice that many of them are chock full of sugar and empty calories, thus putting them in the not-so-healthy category. Take Minute Maid’s 20 ounce bottle, for example. It contains only three percent lemon juice and has 260 calories and 67 grams of sugar in one single serving bottle—a steep price to pay for a light refreshment!

That is why we here at Nutrisystem are offering you a chance to get back to the basics with this simple DIY lemonade recipe that allows you to stay on program and enjoy the tastes of summer all at once. With just three ingredients, all of which count as “Free Foods” in our Grocery Guide, and an easy two-step-prep, you will be on your way to a guilt-free gulp of the good stuff in no time.
