We turned the page on the calendar last night—we also set the clocks back, in case you were wondering why everyone is running late today—and so we’re into November. As a Harris Poll conducted for The Leaf’s parent, Nutrisystem, revealed, almost a third of American adults reported gaining weight during the two months between Halloween and New Years Day.
This should be a joyous time of the year, what with all the parties, and the reasons for the parties—giving thanks and celebrating the return of light and hope during the darkest time of the year. But for too many of us, the holidays have become a time to worry and fret about gaining weight, about seeing all the bounty around us as a curse or a trap rather than the gifts they are.
We’ll provide you with plenty of tips and support throughout the holiday season, and will be here to encourage you to stay true to the promises you’ve made to yourself about reaching your weight goals. The holidays can definitely offer some challenges, but one thing is for sure: if you put your mind to it, you can do it.
Another thing we’ll do for you over the coming weeks: make sure you keep in mind the reasons for all the celebrations and encourage you to keep them in mind, to tap into the joy of the season, and to help you harness it to help you reach your goal. We can do it.
