Frequently Asked Ingredient Questions

What is the sodium content of the Nutrisystem weight loss program?

All of the Nutrisystem® programs are designed to align with the USDA’s recommended daily intake of 2,300 mg of sodium or less for the general adult population (Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020 – 2025). The actual sodium level may vary based on which weight loss program you choose and which grocery food items you add to your diet plan. Some individuals may need to limit their sodium intake to 1500 mg daily. If you would like to reduce your sodium intake, please contact a Nutrisystem Weight Loss Coach at 1-800-585-5483 to help you customize your weight loss program or choose ‘Lower Sodium’ from our ‘Filter By’ menu option.

How much fiber is in the Nutrisystem program?

On average, the Nutrisystem plan provides 25-35 grams of fiber a day.  Although this quantity aligns with the Daily Recommended Intake for fiber, many people do not consume this amount prior to joining the Nutrisystem weight loss program. If your diet prior to joining the Nutrisystem® program was lower in fiber, the increase could be a cause of bloating. Speak to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about your fiber intake, gas or bloating.

What if I am sensitive to lactose or am lactose intolerant?

The Nutrisystem weight loss program offers menu items for those who have lactose intolerance or sensitivity. To determine which Nutrisystem foods you can eat, you can click ‘Filter By’ to customize your menu for lactose intolerance and/or other dietary preferences. You can also contact the Nutrition Support Team at nutritionsupport@nutrisystem.com or by calling 1-888-747-8446, ext. 1341, for assistance with customizing your meal plan.
