“Being healthy has given me too much happiness to quit or give up.”Article posted in: Success Stories - Women
She had seen the Nutrisystem commercials a million times before. And each time Jillian Goldberg thought to herself: I should try that. “I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember,” she says—having attempted many different diets, without much success. “But on that particular day, something in me just clicked.” She opened her laptop and ordered her first shipment right then and there—a move she calls the best decision of her life. It was soon after that Jillian realized being healthy had become a priority for her.
Jillian was in grad school and worked two jobs, so she needed something that wasn’t going to take too much time and effort. The convenience of Nutrisystem suited her perfectly. Plus, she really liked the taste of the food. Jillian was shocked by her initial weight loss results. “I couldn’t believe it!” She was so happy she ordered another shipment, and joined a gym.
Over the next year, Jillian started working out regularly, picked up boxing and even started hiking—something she could barely do before. One of her favorite moments: The first time she was able to run a mile without stopping. “Even when I’m not working out, I’m a more energetic person,” she says. Now when friends ask Jillian to do something active or physical, she gets excited instead of feeling anxious. Jillian has now lost 90 pounds.*
The plan also taught her the importance of portion control. She relies on snacks to curb any cravings (the Milk Chocolate Flavored Pretzels are her favorite!) and loves the Nutrisystem Shakes for when she’s on the go.
There have been points in her weight loss journey where Jillian has fallen backwards. But she refuses to look at it as a failure. “I will recognize that I’ve had a bad day or week, or sometimes even month, but that doesn’t mean it has to last. I know I can just pick up where I left off,” she says. “Being healthy has given me too much happiness to quit or give up.”
