“I feel like I receive compliments everyday about the weight I’ve lost.”Article posted in: Success Stories - Men
When you’re a new parent, you want your health to be at its best—so you can be a great example and an even better parent. But the little ones can be a wake up call: Getting up and down off the floor can be tiring, chasing after a crawling baby can get exhausting, and that little tyke might show you just what kind of shape you’re really in—along with opening your eyes to just how much real weight loss success is needed.
That’s what happened to firefighter—and new dad at 45—Michael B.
“Firefighters eat good—but not ‘good’ food,” he says. Sitting around the table with his fellow firemen, Michael would gobble down high-fat, high-calorie meals. And while his physically-demanding job can require a lot of calories, Michael still gained weight—and he started to see his health slipping, too. “I always maintained a great health record, even while I was gaining my weight, until about three years ago, when it started to decline. My blood pressure became constantly elevated. I developed heart palpitations, headaches and began having difficulty walking. I developed pain throughout my body.”
“I was afraid I would reach a point of no return. I feared that I wouldn’t be around for my wife and children,” Michael says. “I ordered Nutrisystem, determined to give it 100 percent effort.”
He replaced his meals at the firehouse with Nutrisystem meals: The Double Chocolate Muffin for breakfast, Fudge Graham Bars for quick, on-the-go lunches, and, like any good fireman, he had the Chili for dinner.
“The food is delicious,” he says. He used Nutrisystem snacks to satisfy his sweet tooth, and found that the portable nature of Nutrisystem meals fit his lifestyle perfectly—not only were they great to grab and go, but he could bring enough to the firehouse for his 48-hour shifts.
Now, those shifts are a bit easier: Mike has lost 58 pounds with Nutrisystem.*
“It has become easier to get around. My health has improved. I no longer have pain in my feet,” he says. “I feel like I receive compliments everyday about the weight I’ve lost, especially from my coworkers, who have seen my progress firsthand. I am able to perform my job better because I am fit and mobile.”
Best of all, it’s made him a better dad: “I can get down on the floor to play with my five-year-old son and have the ability to get back up,” Michael says. And he’ll be able to do it for a long time coming.
