15 Foods With More Sugar Than A Sugar Cookie

Article posted in: Diet & Nutrition

Today is National Sugar Cookie Day, a day dedicated to celebrating one of America’s favorite treats. But did you ever wonder just how much sugar is in a sugar cookie?

It varies by who’s making it, of course. However, according to the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference (Release 27), one commercially prepared, regular sugar cookie with vanilla has 4.64 grams of sugar.

When you look at this chart, keep in mind that some sugars, such as natural ones found in fruit, are better for you, so we’re not saying to shy away from them.

Nonetheless, this list is a good reminder that sugars are often more prevalent than you may think—which may be a sweet surprise for your sweet tooth, but not your weight loss plan. We recommend avoiding most sugary foods that are high in added sugar.
