An array of hearty ingredients, including crab, brown rice, avocado, cucumber, carrots and romaine lettuce are layered to create the ultimate California Roll dish. To create the homemade dressing, stir together lite mayo, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ground ginger and wasabi, and mix until well blended. Next is the fun part! Begin layering your Mason Jar Salad starting with your delicious dressing concoction. Then, add in the imitation crab meat, avocado, rice, carrots and cucumber. Complete the layering process by topping your California Roll with the romaine lettuce.

  • 3 oz. imitation crab
  • 1/8 cup avocado, cubed
  • ½ cup cooked brown rice
  • ½ cup cucumber, chopped
  • ¼ cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup romaine lettuce, chopped
  • Dressing
  • 1 Tbsp. lite mayo
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce, low sodium
  • ¼ tsp. rice vinegar
  • ¼ tsp. ground ginger
  • Wasabi, to taste


  1. In a quart-sized mason jar, add all dressing ingredients and stir.
  2. Layer rest of the ingredients starting with imitation crab, avocado cubes, rice, carrots and cucumber, and lastly, top with romaine lettuce.
