How to Make Matcha Cookies

Do you find yourself wanting a healthy cookie alternative that still tastes delightful and indulgent? Or maybe something special to treat your friends and family with on the weekends? If so, you should definitely give Matcha Cookies a try!

Matcha, or powdered green tea, adds both flavor and health benefits to any recipe. With its nutty taste and vibrant color, these delicious morsels make for the perfect guilt-free snack — one that your guests are sure to appreciate too. So come along as we explore how easily homemade Matcha Cookies can be made right in your own kitchen.

Time to get your bake on! Take out your trusty sifter and mix together some wholesome ingredients like whole wheat flour, coconut flour, matcha powder and baking powder. Then in a separate bowl, mix up the wet ingredients: combine melted coconut oil, vanilla and almond extract, and unsweetened applesauce for that unmistakable sweetened taste.

Next, add the wet ingredients into the dry ones and stir until everything’s beautifully combined. Make sure it’s not too crumbly; if so add a splash or two of water to get things moving along! Pop that dough in the fridge for at least one hour before putting on those oven mitts and preheating that oven to 350 degrees.

Roll out the cookie dough onto a floured surface so it’s about a quarter-inch thick. Now you’re ready to start cutting shapes with cookie cutters or even just cups from around the house. Put those babies on their own sheet pan and let them bake for 12 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

These Matcha Cookies are yummy treats perfect for any occasion! The vibrant green color is perfect for spring holidays like St. Patrick’s Day, Easter or even Mother’s Day. Or enjoy them any time of the year as a part of breakfast or a snack with a cup of hot tea! If you’re on Nutrisystem, you can count each serving as one SmartCarb and one Extra.
