Have you ever wondered, “How much weight can I lose in a week?” Reaching your weight loss goal isn’t a sprint—it’s a steady jog, that brings you across the finish line at your own pace. But, when you start the journey, you want to know right away that you’re making progress with your smart choices. Waiting weeks or even months to see a difference can be very discouraging. But with week 1 of the Nutrisystem weight loss program, you move right into the fast lane and can begin passing milestones immediately.
According to Courtney McCormick, MPH, RDN, LDN, Nutrisystem Corporate Dietitian, “studies have shown that early weight loss is a predictor of long-term success.” The first seven days of your Nutrisystem weight loss program are designed to help speed up your results from the outset.* It is lower in calories and entirely unique from the rest of your weight loss plan. This first week is a higher-intensity, kick-start, in which you are set up with just about everything you need to make your weight loss plan take off.
Here is everything you need to know about week 1 of Nutrisystem:
1. Stick to the recommended menu.
The first week of the program is designed to reboot your body and kickstart your weight loss. You will receive a specially designed Week 1 Guide to help maximize your results. This first week also includes Nutrisystem meals, snacks and shakes each day. We recommend spacing your meals and snacks about two to four hours apart. The Nutrisystem snack should be eaten after lunch and can help to keep you satisfied until dinner.
When the package arrives with your first month of meals and snacks, take the time to put away and organize your items. The meals and snacks are color-coded for your convenience: Breakfasts have orange labels, lunches have blue labels, dinners have red labels and snacks have purple labels. All these items can safely be stored in your cabinets. If you ordered any frozen entrees, you will receive these items in a separate shipment and they will be marked “Frozen.” They have the same color coding and will need to be stored in your freezer.
2. The shakes are your morning snack.
For your morning snack between breakfast and lunch, you can sip on one of our chocolate shakes packed with protein. These decadent drinks aren’t just a sweet and tasty way to fill up a grumbling stomach, they also provide probiotics to give your tummy a total reboot. 3. Non-starchy vegetables are unlimited.
During the first week, you get to enjoy seven days of flavorful meals plus scrumptious shakes and snacks, all of which make results attainable with little to no thought. But remember: You’ll also want to pair your diet foods with at least four servings of non-starchy veggies each day. Other than at least 64 ounces of water, that’s the only thing you need to add in during your first week on Nutrisystem. No need to add in PowerFuels (like nuts and nut butters, lean meats and dairy), SmartCarbs (like fruits, whole grains and bread) and Extras (like salad dressings or coffee creamer) just yet. You’ll be adding those in once you’re finished your first week.

The Nutrisystem week 1 meal plan may not be easy; as with everything, change can be a bit challenging. But don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.
