Chocolate lover? What about berries? This recipe combines the delicious sweetness of two of our favorite treats to make a dessert you can enjoy while losing weight. Yep—you read that correctly. This Chocolate Berry Crisp is a guilt-free sweet treat you dig into while staying on track with your healthy diet.

Complete with a homemade, flaky crisp, this recipe is a must-try. To make this Chocolate Berry Crisp, simply combine mixed berries, cornstarch and lemon juice. Pour the mixture into a small baking dish. Once evenly distributed in the bottom of the dish, grab the food processor and combine shredded coconut, walnuts, oats, cocoa powder and pitted dates. Once this mixture is thoroughly combined, pour on top of the berry base and bake for about 25 minutes.

Whip up this chocolatey dessert for date night or share with the family after dinner. The recipe yields four servings, but you can easily double the ingredients to make two crisps to bring along to a get-together. Ingredients:

  • 2 cups berries
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch or arrowroot powder
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • Crisp
  • 2 Tbsp. unsweetened shredded coconut
  • ¼ cup walnuts
  • ¼ cup oats
  • 1 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large dates, pitted

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a bowl, toss the berries, cornstarch/arrowroot powder and lemon juice. Pour into a small baking dish.
  3. In a food processor, add topping ingredients and pulse until crumbly.
  4. Pour on top of fruit mixture.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes.
