- 4 cups apple, peeled and sliced ¼” thick
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- ¼ tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. honey
- 1 cup white whole wheat flour
- 2 Tbsp. white sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. baking soda
- ¼ tsp. cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp. cold light butter
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Toss the apples in lemon juice, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey. Transfer to a baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon.
- Crumble the butter into the flour mixture using fingers (or pastry cutter) until the mixture resembles a coarse crumb. Add the milk and combine well to form a batter.
