Nutrisystem’s video recipe series The Dish with Deanna shows you how to prepare our most popular recipes as selected by you, our members. This week, Deanna shows you how to prepare one of her favorite breakfast recipes, the Tropical Chia Breakfast Bowl.
This bowl is packed with chia seeds, which are a great source of heart-healthy Omega 3s as well as fiber. It’s the perfect meal to prepare the night before: let it set up in the fridge overnight, add some sliced banana and a little unsweetened shredded coconut and you have a tasty, filling breakfast. Even better: the recipe makes two servings, so if you’re not sharing with someone, you’ll have breakfast made for two days. Detailed instructions are below the video player. Enjoy!
Deanna Otranto: Hi. I’m Deanna Otranto with Nutrisystem. If you’re anything like me, you really look forward to the most important meal of the day – breakfast. Today we’re going to show you one of our member favorites breakfast that also happens to be one of my own personal favorites. It’s a really delicious breakfast that you can make the night before and wake up and enjoy right away in the morning.
So this particular breakfast is called the Tropical Chia Breakfast Bowl, and it features four tablespoons of chia seeds. Chia seeds are really a great food. They include all kinds of nutrients your body needs like Omega-3s, protein, fiber, antioxidants so it’s a great addition to any diet.
For this particular recipe you’re going to need 16 ounces or two cups of skim milk, one medium banana that you’ll use the next morning as topping, and two tablespoons of unsweetened shredded coconut, and then you’ll also just want to use your Nutrisystem Tropical Smoothie Mix.
To make this recipe you’ll start by pouring your 16 ounces of skim milk into your mixing bowl. You’ll add the chia seeds. Then you’ll add your Tropical Smoothie Mix, and then you’re going to add your two tablespoons of shredded coconut. If you’d like, you can put a little aside as topping for tomorrow morning. It’s up to you. I like it mixed in so I’m going to go ahead and add it all in here.
And then you’re just going to whisk that together until you get a nice creamy smooth constituency and you don’t have any lumps from the Nutrisystem shake. And then once you’ve got the consistency that you’re looking for, you’ll just put this in the fridge for about six hours so really overnight is the perfect time to let it sit.
So this is what your breakfast will look like the next morning after it’s sat overnight, and the only thing you have left to do is add the banana as a topping to your breakfast bowl, and there you have it – a delicious breakfast I think you’re really going to enjoy.
