Red Velvet Chocolate Protein Shake with beets and spinach

Check out this protein shake that tastes like cake! If your favorite slice is red velvet, then you’re going to want to try this healthy idea. Freshly cooked beets give this drinkable dessert a beautiful color that packs in the nutrition without packing on the pounds. Combined with a rich, chocolate fudge protein powder, this Red Velvet Protein Shake is sure to take care of your sweet tooth. Now you can have your cake AND drink it too!

This Red Velvet Protein Shake recipe was created by Nutrisystem member, Kelli. She describes this shake as a “delicious way to get 2 serving of veggies and boost your energy levels at the same time!” We couldn’t agree more. Featuring two non-starchy veggies, spinach and beets, plus plenty of chocolaty flavor from a Nutrisystem Protein Shake, this morning drink could easily double as dessert.

To make this beautiful, blended beverage, simply combine two scoops of Nutrisystem Chocolate Protein Shake Mix with one cup of raw spinach, three-quarters of a cup of cooked beets, one cup of coffee and one cup of water. Add some ice and blend! The end result is a caffeinated creation that tastes (and looks!) like cocoa-filled red velvet cake.
