How to Make a Turkey Burger Patty Melt
Our lean turkey burger patty recipe is tender and flavorful. To make it, combine lean ground turkey with panko breadcrumbs, unsweetened almond milk, one egg, dried thyme, black pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Form the mixture into four oblong-shaped turkey burger patties, then place them in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes.
You can cook the turkey burger patties on the stove top or in the oven. If you’re using the stove top, cook them over medium heat for about five minutes per side, or until they are fully cooked. Alternatively, cook them in the oven at 350°F for 30 minutes, or until fully cooked.
While your burgers are cooking, sauté some sliced onions and mushrooms for a savory and flavorful burger topping. Simply heat light butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the mushrooms and onions for 15 minutes until the veggies are soft and caramelized.
Now it’s time to assemble your Turkey Burger Patty Melt! Grab a slice of multigrain sourdough bread and spread a teaspoon of mayonnaise on it. Top it with a turkey burger patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, some of the sautéed veggies and another slice of the bread. Repeat this process for a total of four sandwiches. Grill or bake the finished melts until they are browned and the cheese is melted.
